Hotel Reviews Lisbon Portugal

Inside Track on the EPIC SANA Lisboa Hotel

This summer I was privileged to be a guest of SANA Hotels, one of Portugal’s finest hotel groups. It was an unprecedented opportunity to become familiar with a few of their flagship properties, including the EPIC SANA Lisboa Hotel, writes Andrew Forbes.

So here I wanted to share the inside track on this upscale hotel in the heart of Lisbon’s chic and elegant business district

With a privileged and strategic location in Amoreiras and a short distance from Marquês de Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade – EPIC SANA Lisboa hotel attracts both leisure and business travellers.

World-class Hospitality

General Manager Olivier Mencucci leads an exceptional team that immediately embrace you with a warm welcome. In fact, throughout my stay I was genuinely impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the team. This may be a 31-room property, but as a guest I never felt like a number. The level of hospitality here is high and would be feel comfortable recommending the EPIC SANA Lisboa for leisure travellers.

Hotel facilities include the Flor-de-Lis restaurant, Scale Terrace & Lounge Bar and the UpScale Bar with infinity pool, the epic culmination of the Hotel. For relaxation, the Sayanna Wellness SPA & Fitness Centre is the ideal location.

Before the pandemic, the hotel was also a regular meeting point for businesses, thanks to its dedicated 1,700 m2 on floor -1 and 400 m2 of individual rooms on the 1st floor for events of up 1,300 people. The property has well established health and safety protocols and is ready to welcome back business groups once the MICE market returns.

UpScale Bar

The Upscale roof terrace at the EPIC SANA Lisboa Hotel is a stylish, urban oasis of calm, high above the activity of the Portuguese capital. The UpScale bar offers a panoramic view over the city, with the Tagus River on the horizon – great place for sundowners.

During the day I enjoyed the infinity pool and relaxed on the lounge day beds. A staff member was always on hand to offer a drink, or a clean towel. The pool terrace is also a good place to enjoy sushi & sashimi, tapas, or salads.

Suite Dreams

The EPIC SANA Lisboa rooms have a sophisticated and contemporary style. I was truly wowed by the welcome amenity – an exceptional selection of freshly made sweet treats by Pastry Chef Filipe Soares and Sous Pastry Chef Alfredo Lourenco – simply perfect with a glass of Portuguese port.

In-room tech includes 37-inch LCD screen, connection to the mp3 player and automated lighting.

The king bed is dressed with 100% cotton 300 thread count – and there’s all the 5-star services you’d expect, like evening turndown.

Portuguese & International Gastronomy

The Flor-de-Lis is the hotel’s main restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with dishes from Chef Patrick Lefeuvre.

The a La Carte service is available at lunch and dinner, offering a selection of tasteful dishes. At lunch it is also possible to request an executive menu.

In the Hotel lobby, the Scale Bar is a relaxed space with outdoor terrace. This is the ideal place to enjoy a drink from our extensive list, which also includes snacks, sandwiches, and salads. On the bar terrace you can enjoy the sunset over the city of Lisbon with wine tasting or a selection of afternoon teas.

Spa & Wellness

the EPIC SANA Lisboa Hotel has an exclusive Sayanna Wellness, a world-class SPA and Fitness Centre, where you can enjoy the soothing effects of a body massage or a refreshing facial treatment.

The Sayanna Wellness, with 1.700 m2, includes a fitness area, 6 treatment rooms with a modern and contemporary design and hydrotherapy facilities, all bathed in natural light. The room overlooks a splendid botanical garden, ending in a total relaxation room.
