A century and a half of watchmaking
Piaget has been a trailblazer for creativity since its inception in 1874 from a workshop in La Côte- aux Fées. Georges-Edouard Piaget made it his life’s work to craft high-precision, pioneering movements and in the late 1950s, the brand unveiled an ultra-thin design that would later become the Maison’s trademark and the cornerstone of the Altiplano collection. The watchmaker’s workshop Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire, harnesses artisans’ rare skills, transforming gold, stones and precious gems into exquisite and useful works of art, with Altiplano, Piaget Polo, Limelight Gala, Possession, Piaget Sunlight, Piaget Rose and Extremely Piaget counted among its previous collections.
Making green the new shade of bold
Green was chosen for its energy and significance in nature – a powerful force, celebrating life. Nature has always served as an inspiration in the Piaget’s manufacture and from the early 1960s has been an integral hue in the Maison’s creative palette. Precious stones such as jade, jasper, malachite and emeralds have long been used in the designs, which are both bold and stylish. The Piaget Polo Date and a Piaget Polo Skeleton sport a new shade of this bold colour, with a rose gold case contrasting the green godrons patterns of the dial of the Piaget Polo Date and the Piaget Polo Skeleton’s green bridges.
The horological art of skeletonisation
Reflecting this ‘back to nature’ theme, the dials and movements of these stunning Polo Green timepieces have been stripped back to their bare minimum, to reveal the beating heart of a watch – its mechanics.
