Waldorf Astoria Opens in Rabat, Atop Morocco’s Tallest Tower

A 55-room hotel inside the Mohammed VI Tower marks the brand’s Moroccan debut, and it does so in true Waldorf Astoria style with a celestial design language, an Alain Ducasse restaurant and one of North Africa’s largest private art collections.

We’re particularly delighted to share this news, as on one of our recent trips to Rabat, we saw the building work in progress, and it was quite a sight to behold, taking residence in the upper floors of the Mohammed VI Tower, the country’s tallest building. The prime location for the first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Morocco is where the twin cities of Rabat and Salé meet on the banks of the Bouregreg River, so the hotel boasts panoramic views which run from the river out to the Atlantic. The 55 rooms are pitched somewhere between a private home and a sky-bound observatory, and range from deluxe rooms through to three-bedroom suites. Each is finished in sun-warmed marbles and intricate motifs intended to read as a story of place, and a celestial design narrative is woven through the public spaces, with a quiet emphasis on Moroccan craft. A dedicated Personal Concierge is assigned to every guest, a Waldorf Astoria signature.

The hotel also houses one of North Africa’s most significant private art collections with nearly 7,000 works displayed throughout the property, with Moroccan makers shown alongside international artists.

Five restaurants and a Ducasse signature

There are five dining concepts anchored by two destination spaces, Peacock Alley, the brand’s ever present social-hub, no matter the location, has been reinterpreted here beneath a planetarium-inspired clock that traces the solar system alongside Moroccan time and is an exceptional setting to enjoy afternoon tea, coffee and hand-crafted cocktails. Aldabaran, named for one of the brightest stars in the night sky, is the signature restaurant by Alain Ducasse: a luminous, restrained dining room where the menu leans on purity and seasonality. Menu highlights (at the time of writing) include line-caught sea bass with artichokes and radicchio, Wagyu beef tenderloin with polenta and pepper jus, roasted lamb saddle with vegetable caponata, and a Tropézienne tart scented with orange blossom.

Spa, events and a capital location

Beyond the dining offer, the hotel is home to a spa and almost 1,300 square metres of event space for weddings and private functions. UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Kasbah of the Udayas and Hassan Tower, along with the historic medinas of Rabat and Salé, are all within easy reach, as are newer cultural landmarks such as the Grand Theatre of Rabat, further enhancing the appeal of this already stunning hotel.

Rabat-Salé International Airport is only minutes away, and high-speed rail links connect to Casablanca and Tangier in under two hours.

Morocco’s accelerating luxury moment

The opening is a notable marker in a fast-moving market. “Morocco represents one of the world’s most rapidly evolving destinations, welcoming more than 18 million tourists in 2025, with Rabat playing a growing role in the national ambition to reach 20 million by 2030,” says Guy Hutchinson, Hilton’s president for the Middle East and Africa. Dino Michael, senior vice president and category head for Hilton Luxury Brands, frames the property as a dialogue between heritage and modernity: “Morocco has long inspired dreamers, creators, and travellers with its rhythm and beauty, and this hotel opening captures that spirit through a distinctly Waldorf Astoria lens.”

Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé is now open and taking reservations.
