Sardinia’s only Relais & Châteaux property has unveiled six renovated Prestige Sea View rooms, the new Secret Stone Spa and a fresh chapter for its Michelin-starred restaurant Il Fuoco Sacro for the 2026 season.
Petra Segreta Resort & Spa, tucked into the granite hills of San Pantaleo above the Costa Smeralda, has reopened for the season with a wave of new arrivals. Most notably, six renovated Plunge Pool Prestige Sea View rooms, a reimagined spa and an architectural new wine wall at the heart of its Michelin-starred restaurant.
The only Relais & Châteaux property on the island, Petra Segreta remains under the personal stewardship of architect-owner Rosella Marchese and Luigi Bergeretto, whose family-style welcome continues to draw a loyal, returning clientele. “Those who choose us are seeking luxury surrounded by the pure air and tranquillity which we have in abundance,” says Marchese. “We offer our guests a space in which to pause and listen to themselves, to find balance and continuity in nature.”
Welcoming the New Season
The Luxury Editor was invited to join the celebration of the new season earlier this month, where a truly considered itinerary was curated for a select number of press and media. Sadly, we couldn’t make it. Esteemed guests enjoyed sunset aperitivo served on the panoramic patio and a warm welcome from the team, followed by an exclusive dining experience where Michelin-starred Chef Alessandro Menditto, together with F&B Manager Enrico Zoratto, hosted a bespoke tasting journey complemented by a curated wine pairing. The following day, guests enjoyed breakfast at the resort and ventured to the charming artists’ village of San Pantaleo for a guided stroll to discover its authentic character and artisan spirit. Lunch, leisure time and a personalised Valmont Facial Experience occupied most of the afternoon before exploring Porto Cerv’s iconic boutiques and refined atmosphere. A relaxed dinner back at Petra Segreta concluded the wonderful two-day experience. We were so sorry to miss out.
Six new Plunge Pool Prestige Sea View rooms
The headline addition is a set of six newly renovated rooms, each fitted with a temperature-controlled plunge pool screened by the resort’s dense Mediterranean vegetation. Interiors lean into local materials and fine fabrics — pastel tones, wood panelling, natural fibres — with chestnut beams and considered chromatic contrasts lending the spaces a quiet visual rhythm. Outdoor terraces have been enlarged and repaved in pale stone, with new headboards and window dressings throughout.
The Secret Stone Spa
The resort’s wellness offering has been reimagined as the Secret Stone Spa, with signature treatments delivered inside a Balinese hut flanked by two granite monoliths. Treatments draw on hand-harvested Sardinian botanicals, including olive oil, myrtle, juniper, aloe and rosemary, which are all transformed into phytocosmetics using pure essential oils and entirely free from alcohol, parabens, animal fats or chemical solvents.
New for this year is the Komorebi ritual, named after the Japanese word for dappled light filtering through leaves, designed as a slow, multisensory immersion among the resort’s energy-charged rocks. Three additional treatment cabins are now dedicated to oriental massage, hair styling and high-performance facials by Valmont, the Swiss cellular-cosmetics house and resort partner. Bespoke in-room treatments are also being offered for the first time.
An open-view wine wall — and Krug’s 2013 Vintage
At Il Fuoco Sacro, the resort’s Michelin-starred restaurant, a new open-view wine cellar has been built into one of the room’s original stone walls, turning the cellar itself into an architectural centrepiece. The list has grown to more than 800 labels, with particular attention paid to lesser-known indigenous Sardinian grape varieties alongside the leading international maisons.
Maison Krug, a long-standing partner of the resort, takes pride of place: the 2013 Vintage joins the cellar this year, completing a historical vertical that runs from 2000 to 2011 alongside the Grande Cuvée. The Krug x Petra Segreta collaboration unfolds in the Infinity Lounge, the private dining area of Il Fuoco Sacro, with a dedicated tasting menu by Head Chef Alessandro Menditto built around carrot, Krug’s chosen ingredient of the year. The partnership culminates in August with a four-hands dinner in which Menditto is joined at the pass by Michelin-starred Chef Enrico Bartolini, with seats open to non-residents by reservation from June through September.
Breakfast, reimagined by Enrico Bartolini
Also returning for the new season is the à la carte breakfast conceived by Enrico Bartolini and executed by Menditto, treating the first meal of the day as a haute-cuisine ritual on a par with lunch or dinner. Guests choose between three tasting routes: La Dolce Italia, Terra d’Amare and Il Nuraghe with each deliberately blurring the lines between sweet and savoury. The breakfast is also open to external guests by reservation.
Once is never enough
Although the Petra Segreta Resort & Spa continues to evolve, it has really perfected its offering and personal service to an exceptional level so that guests keep coming back for more. This loyalty is something that Rosella and Luigi do not take for granted and these long-lasting relations are deeply valued and help shape the future of this harmonious Sardinian sanctuary.
