Cape Grace Hotel Unveils New Look After Nine-Month Renovation

On May 1, 2024, Cape Grace, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, reopened after an extensive nine-month renovation. Situated on the iconic V&A Waterfront, this iconic Cape Town hotel now boasts a refreshed design inspired by South Africa’s rich heritage, culture, and artistry.

Interior and architecture firm 1508 London led the redesign, honouring Cape Town’s evolution from a bustling trading port to a modern cosmopolitan hub. This renovation marks the beginning of Cape Grace’s new chapter as the first Fairmont Hotel in South Africa, joining a prestigious collection of 90 distinctive properties worldwide.

The revamped interiors celebrate South Africa’s diverse narrative, reflecting its stunning landscapes, multiple languages, vibrant art, and rich cultures. Handpicked artwork from local artists adorns the hotel, and materials have been selected to create a contemporary, understated look that blends seamlessly with Cape Town’s natural surroundings. The 112 rooms and suites, featuring large French windows or balconies, offer breathtaking views of either the Marina or the iconic Table Mountain. The standout accommodation is the two-bedroom Cape Grace Suite, which boasts an expansive terrace with panoramic views, a stylish lounge, and a dining area complete with a private bar and butler’s pantry, ideal for families or entertaining guests.

For its culinary offerings, Cape Grace has partnered with renowned Cape Town Chef Gregory Czarnecki to present elevated South African-inspired cuisine at the new restaurant, Heirloom. Inspired by the hotel’s family roots, Heirloom’s highlight is an 8-course Tasting Menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. Additional dining options include a Pool Bar for leisurely afternoons by the outdoor pool, the Library Lounge for traditional afternoon tea, and the revamped Bascule Bar & Lounge, known for its extensive whisky collection, exclusive wine cellar, and design celebrating South Africa’s rich history.
