The Belvedere Hotel Mykonos

Enshrined in legend as the site of the Gigantomachy, the most significant battle in Greek mythology, the picturesque island of Mykonos’ modern reputation is as one of Europe’s leading luxury destinations and, since its launch in 1996, the five star Belvedere Hotel has established itself as one of the most exclusive places to stay.

Romance

With an impressive array of luxury accommodation options, the Belvedere caters for all requirements. The main hotel itself takes the form of a stunning complex of seven stylish buildings, where you can take your pick from rooms featuring spectacular sea views, private pools or Jacuzzis. Newly-weds should look no further than the luxury Honeymoon Room. Featuring a serene pool, luscious private garden and beautifully designed interior that reflects authentic Mykonian architecture, this is the perfect romantic place to start this new chapter of your lives. For those seeking the best views of Mykonos, we recommend checking into the brand-new Hilltop Complex, situated just 250m away from the main hotel. Walking out on to your terrace or balcony in the morning to see the picturesque scene of Mykonos Town and the Aegean Sea below is a truly thrilling experience. Like the main hotel complex itself, all rooms come with a lavish set of amenities, including breakfast, a minibar and a concierge service. And with a complimentary shuttle service guests can also easily access the facilities at the main hotel enabling them to enjoy the privacy of the Hilltop Complex whilst still benefiting from the signature Belvedere Hotel level of service, comfort and hospitality.

Accommodation

For true Mykonos lovers, the best option is the Waterfront Villa & Suites, where, as the name suggests, all rooms come with spectacular sea views. Located in the heart of the town, this is the perfect base from which to explore the island’s bustling social life and the close proximity to the main hotel means easy access to the hotel facilities, including the Six Senses Spa, pool and studio gym. For big groups, the obvious choice is the luxurious Villa Next Door located next to the main hotel. Sleeping 18 guests and featuring a private pool, a personal chef and butler and easy access to the town’s bars and restaurants, this is the perfect accommodation option for large families or groups of friends.  Waterfront Villa & Suites and Villa Next door can be either booked separately as suites or as a whole villa and both are ideal for big groups and situated in Mykonos town.

Fancy something a bit different? Look no further than the chic Venice Pied-à-Terres apartments. Situated in the most photographed and iconic Mykonos locations, Little Venice.  Right on the sea front and just a one-minute walk from the Old Port, these apartments are stunning and feature the only private dock in Little Venice. These gorgeous properties offer the perfect setting for a romantic getaway.

Dining

Outstanding in every respect, the hotel’s dining experiences, in particular, help to set it apart from the rest. Since 2003, the Belvedere has been home to the Matsuhisa Mykonos restaurant, founded by world-famous chef Nobu Matsuhisa. In his twenties Matsuhisa moved from his native Japan to set up a restaurant in Peru, leading him to develop the truly unique fusion of Japanese and Latin American cuisine that is savoured by diners at his restaurants around the world. His Mykonos restaurant features his signature dishes, including black cod in miso, as well as the highest quality Greek seafood, freshly caught from the glistening Aegean Sea below. The restaurant’s trademark feature is its open-air sushi bar, which was the first of its kind amongst all Matsuhisa’s restaurants. And if you want to meet the maestro himself, book your stay during the annual Nobu Food Festival in July, when the chef takes great pleasure in mingling with his guests.

For a more exclusive dining experience, make sure to book into the Thea Estiatorio restaurant, which offers private dinners for up to 30 guests. A new feature of the Belvedere, the restaurant aims to add a much-needed freshness to Greek cuisine. Taking its inspiration from traditional Greek plates, the Thea Estiatorio offers a trendsetting menu that leaves guests mesmerised. In particular, the restaurant has revolutionised Greek deserts, bringing cutting-edge culinary techniques to traditional dishes, whilst infusing a distinctly summer feel to all of its plates. The bespoke dinnerware set created by Greek designer Themis Z is just another touch that enhances the dining experience here.  Situated on a secluded terrace with breath-taking views of the Aegean, this really is one of the most deluxe dining spots on the entire island.

Memories

Given the unique nature of the Belvedere experience, many guests choose to take home a memento of their visit and the hotel provides plenty of enticing options. Take your pick from the Belvedere Shop’s beautiful collection of carefully selected Greek fashion items and jewellery, as well as homeware and accessories, which will act as a treasured memory of your special stay in Mykonos. The shop itself features a charming minimalist design, featuring bespoke wooden elements designed by Concept Boarding. For something more distinctive, check out the exquisite Venyx Boutique. Founded by exciting Greek designer Eugenie Niarchos, the boutique unashamedly puts femininity to the fore, with her jewellery pieces showcasing stunning precious stones and skilfully fusing past and future.

Final Thoughts

From its spectacular location and outstanding service, to its elegant accommodation options and gourmet culinary experiences, The Belvedere Hotel is the superior choice for a luxury getaway in Mykonos. And, thanks to its astonishing versatility, it is suitable for all guests, from families to groups of friends and couples.
