The Catalonian city is a wonderful place to explore; famous medieval walls, meandering cobbled lanes, a well-preserved Jewish quarter, the Eiffel Bridge, an impressive cathedral and four rivers (Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell) all are found in Girona. More recently, it’s become a place of pilgrimage for Games of Thrones fans, with many scenes having been shot within its confines. Tours are available, or you can opt to wander the area and discover the many sights by yourself. Girona is easily accessible from Barcelona and has its own airport, making it conducive to a short or long stay.
