As the fourth bedroom is separate from the main villa with its own entrance, this home-from-home will suit groups where one party (such as grandparents, or a younger couple) will appreciate a little more seclusion. The centrepiece of the main house is a light-filled bamboo atrium with stunning sea views. In addition to the pergola-covered alfresco living/dining area, there’s a balcony – accessed via wooden shuttered doors from the bedrooms – on the first floor.  Pets are welcomed here and you’ll have access to two golf carts (with electric charging points) to explore the amenities of the resort.

Stay in one of just 11 individually designed bedrooms on this 19th-century gated farm estate, four miles from the UNESCO World Heritage town of Palazzolo Acreide. The courtyard is the hub of outdoor activity, with its 10-metre swimming pool, a wellness cabin for massages and a restaurant that serves dishes made using organic produce from the kitchen garden and local area.
